What is the difference between a suspended mountain bike and a semi-rigid one ?
The semi-rigid MTBs are equipped with a suspended fork but do not have a rear shock while the all-suspended MTBs have a double cushioning system on the fork and frame.
Why choose a semi-rigid MTB ?
Because the semi-rigid MTB is simpler to design and manufacture, its purchase price is more attractive. It is especially a lighter bike, more rigid but with less efficiency on the rear wheel.
Why choose an all-suspended mountain bike ?
Because the all-suspended MTB will surprise you with its comfort. Its rear suspension makes it possible to better absorb the irregularities of rugged terrain while maintaining traction by placing the rear wheel on the ground whatever the roughness of the terrain. Its crossing capabilities are greatly improved to allow you to go on inextensible to semi-rigid terrain. Additional adjustable damping systems (total or partial blocking) make it possible to improve the efficiency of the bike depending on the nature of the terrain travelled for an identical or even superior performance to a semi-rigid bike.
What type of mountain bike should I choose based on my practice ?
For the hike where simple fun comes first, choose a low-budget 27.5" or 29" bike with a fork with 100 and 130 mm travel. If you have more means and are looking for comfort, opt for an all-pendant bike.
For the Cross-Country, choose a lightweight, nervous, 29-inch semi-rigid MTB with an 80-120 mm fork. The choice between aluminum and ultra-light carbon will depend on your purse.
For the practice of all-mountain and its chaotic paths, an all-suspension bike with travel from 130 to 150 mm will be perfect.
Enduro racing fan, the all-suspended aluminum or carbon MTB equipped with 27.5 wheels and a 140 mm fork travel 140 mm will be a choice mount.
Why choose an electric MTB ?
If you want to practice a gentle sport, offer you walks or longer courses, the electric assistance will give you the pleasure you are looking for.
If you are an experienced cyclist, the electric complement will allow you to focus the highly technical parts of your route while saving your resources.
Be careful, however, about the weight of the battery, its lifespan and the type of fork that equips your electric MTB when choosing your model.
We recommend a motor integrated in the crankset, coupled to a 400Wh lithium battery, with a specific hydraulic fork of 100m minimum travel.
