Design and Construction: Since simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, this mountain bike helmet aims to be simple and elegant. By playing with textures, the visor reveals the brand's logo under the rays of the sun.
Glasses / Goggles Compatibility: On the nose or stored under the visor, glasses are part of our outings, so everything has been planned to marry them perfectly with the RASCAS. While the mask is made for those who are not afraid, like committed riders and freeriders. The helmet has been designed to be in perfect harmony with the contour of the mask. The flat design on the circumference above the temples allows the strap to be accommodated like a full-face helmet.
Pop-Off Visor System: More than a simple double-position visor, the POP-OFF visor system designed by Urge has a third virtual position which is a detachment position. Difficult to reach to avoid mishandling, it comes into play for greater forces. The objective is to reduce whiplash-type injuries and save the visor in the event of a violent fall. And of course, the visor is made of recycled material (Nylon).
ERT Technology: The most advanced mountain bike helmet from Urge could not do without the best protection, so it naturally integrates ERT (Energy Reduction Technology) which consists of soft and smooth pads, made of very advanced polymer, designed to absorb the energy of rotational and linear impacts in the event of a fall, thanks to the unique qualities of their material and their particularly innovative design. ERT offers additional protection against brain injuries. Unlike other hard materials that only react to violent impacts, ERT activates immediately, even in the event of low-energy impacts.
Traditionally, helmets must pass certification tests simulating extreme impact forces of up to 300 G. However, they are not required to mitigate the energy of lower impacts which are often associated with head injuries and concussions. ERT is designed to add a level of protection against these critical low-energy impacts.
Fidlock Strap Adjustment: Because Urge wanted this helmet to tick all the right boxes, the brand has equipped the RASCAS with an innovative Fidlock magnetic buckle for a more pleasant, practical, and secure experience. In addition, for a perfect fit, the helmet is equipped with a discreet and precise occipital adjustment.
Exploration: Unlike the first version in fiber, the RASCAS is of IN-MOLD design, allowing more freedom in design. It is also a pretext for the new design team to affirm the brand's heritage while creating its future dynamic. Technical constraints such as air flow management, an innovative visor system, protection, and comfort were at the heart of concerns and the helmet's aesthetics meet these requirements. Bio-Sourced Pads: Why use synthetic fibers when nature does things so well? Unlike traditional materials, bamboo fiber offers a unique combination of strength, flexibility, and comfort. Additionally, bamboo's moisture-wicking properties help regulate temperature and keep the rider dry during prolonged use. Bamboo is a sustainable, quickly renewable, and environmentally friendly resource, making it an ideal choice for consumers concerned about this issue.
Eco Design: After several years of extensive testing, Urge is finally able to equip one of its helmets with a recycled polycarbonate shell in 2024. The brand is now capable of producing a helmet from 100% recycled materials! The use of this recycled "plastic" implies certain limitations in the choice of colors which is why for now it is only used on the RASCAS named DARK MOON. This name is due to the elegant midnight blue reflections discernible under the rays of the sun. The blue comes from the color of recycled plastic bottles. Helmets made with recycled polycarbonate of course retain the same high level of longevity, impact resistance, and performance as those made from virgin materials.
Air Flow: Some naive journalists use the number of ventilation holes in helmets as a marker of their breathability. However, good ventilation of a helmet is characterized by its ability to actively and passively dissipate heat. To this end, the RASCAS benefits from large vents on the front and rear of the helmet for passive action. But above all, for active action, there are ventilation channels inside the helmet that guide the airflow and keep the rider cool.
